Maurice the Major

A Bo-Bo 3-cylinder Kubota diesel hydraulic locomotive built by Peter Bowers which hauled the first train on 24th August 1996.

Trevithick

A 0-6-2 tank locomotive built by Roger Marsh in 1976 for The Age of Steam in Cornwall.

Isambard Kingdom Brunel

A 2-6-0 tender locomotive built by David Curwen in 1977 for The Age of Steam in Cornwall.  She ran there until about 1985 when the railway closed.  She arrived at RVR in 1997 in a derelict state and was completely rebuilt by RVR staff.

Basil the Brigadier

This locomotive is a 2-6-0 0-6-2 garret built by Kitsons of Leeds in 1938 for the Surrey Border and Camberley Railway.  It later ran with Belle at Shillingstone where it was named Jason & N0 4 by Sir Tommy Salt.

To assist in the restoration to full working order we have set up a separate fund and would be grateful for any donations to help.

Ivor

This is a 0-4-0 Hunslet saddle tank built by Jones and Mills in 1993 and is in full working order.

Western class diesel

This locomotive was built by David Curwen in 1964 for Margate Pier Railway which closed in 1975 and sold all its stock to M.Pay.  RVR then bought all the stock in 2003.

Lynton

A 2-4-4 steam loco built by Narrogauge in 1984.  She worked for many years in North Wales before moving to Merton Abbey (London).  She joined RVR in 2002 and is presently being rebuilt.  Her owner is Helen Allenby.

Royal Scot 1

She was built by Bassett-Lowke in 1938 for the Marquess of Downshire.  She worked at Hastings and Oak Hill Manor before being shipped to the USA.  In need of a total rebuild she returned to RVR in December 2002.

Royal Scot 2

She was built by Dove of Nottingham and worked at Margate and the Great Orme in North Wales.  She was shipped to Sam Sunter in Vancouver, Canada, then to Ohio, USA.  She returned to RVR in December 2002 and is currently being brought up to full working order.

 Royal Scot 3

She was built by Carland in 1949 and worked in Cornwall and other sites.When the boiler expired she was converted to petrol electric.  She has been in store for many years and will be restored to full steam working order again.

Santa Fe Trainset

This 3 car, petrol hydraulic, set was built in 1952 by Charles Lane in Liphook, Hampshire.  The photo shows the set running at RVR in 2004.
